Increase Engagement.

Vendor Portal Bidding Overhaul

The Vendor Portal is the one-stop-shop for Gartner Digital Market’s vendors to manage every aspect of their campaigns. Vendors use the portal to create content for their ad listing, bid for placement, collect and manage reviews, and report out on performance.

The problem.

Initial Team Problem Statement:
We think that redesigning the bidding experience will improve vendor satisfaction with the Gartner Digital Markets Vendor Portal bidding experience and increase bidding confidence.

Revamped Problem Statement (User + Need + Goal): Upgraded Vendors need more granular control over their bids to increase engagement with the bidding platform.

Role and team.

My Roles:

  • Ideation Facilitator

  • Interview Facilitator

  • UX/UI Designer

Full Team:

  • Vendor Portal Product Managers

  • Vendor Portal Developers

  • Sales and Client Success Teams (users + stakeholders)

  • Internal Company Leadership

Design decisions.

Usability test results showed that vendors could complete the majority of tasks defined in the bidding flow. I tracked each test with a pass/fail score for the areas we were testing.

After Usability Testing, the team identified a need to:

  • Create a Bulk Editing option that can be combined with the granular bidding controls

  • Provide some guidance (i.e. tooltips, product walkthroughs for change management) to allow for a system more focused on self-service

I also ran Hotjar recordings for our Beta Users to ensure there were issues not identified in Usability testing.

Phase Two of Bidding Redesign

In early 2022, my team began exploring what Phase Two would look like for our bidding system. By taking into account all of the future roadmap items, the design below shows an updated and more actionable version of this system. After designs were created, I worked with my team to create a usability test to run with our users. The usability test showed that all tasks were able to be completed by users, but we flagged risks and opportunities that if addressed would improve the experience.
